OK, you asked and you got it! Make your predictions for the 2018 ACC Football season. My overview of the ACC is that it remains one of the top football conferences in America. No one now doubts that. In terms of placing teams in bowl games and bowl records, over the course of the last several years, the ACC has done better than has the SEC. Obviously, the SEC scored a huge coup with the dramatic National Championship game between Georgia and Alabama, which Georgia should have won in overtime! But, in terms of depth, the ACC can still claim a better situation. The ACC Atlantic remains the heavily skewed beast of the conference. Whichever teams wins the Atlantic will also be on the national short list for the National Championship Bowl Series, and likely in the coveted top four slots. ACC Atlantic Clemson

Thanks. It was hard on her yesterday. We lost or first volleyball game, Mckenzie was set to be a starter until she got hurt. Yesterday was a very close match and the girls almost pulled it off. Mckenzie being the competitor she is hates to lose and felt like being on the court she could have helped. The coach had to use a first time player more than she wanted because Mckenzie was not available and she made some mistakes. Nothing bad, just inexperience. But as a parent I was proud, Mckenzie cheered the girls on, gave words of encouragement, and per the coach, during timeouts as well as before and after sets she was talking with the girls, giving advice, and being "a great teammate" encouraging the more inexperienced player. In fact the coach told me that Mckenzie ought to think about going into coaching after her playing days are done. In her words she is "a natural." Said she did not have to say a whole lot because of Mckenzie. And Mckenzie did it in a way that was positive. She also said that she is becoming the leader of this team through her words and actions. The girls are responding to her very well.

An update. Mckenzie has been playing travel softball and doing well. Her reputation has spread as a power hitter and now when she comes up to bat the other teams automatically back up their outfield. Volleyball has started for school and our first game is this afternoon, however school does not start until Next Monday. Now the bad news. Mckenzie is having a issue with her left foot. She cannot put any pressure on her heel without being in a lot of pain. We took her to the Dr yesterday and they took ex-rays. The ex-rays were negative so the Dr. has referred her to an orthopedic Dr. We cannot even get into the orthopedic dr until the 29th. So she will miss her first 4 volleyball games and the next travel ball tournament before we can even see the dr. However, we are not going to risk anything at this point so she will sit out and wait to see exactly what is going on. So in the mean time she is going to support her teammates from the sideline, which is an adjustment for her.

http://www.foxnews.com/sports/2018/08/11/former-nfl-qb-erik-kramer-charged-with-assaulting-wife.html Erik Kramer was a transfer who played two high-quality seasons for NC State. He was a centerpiece of the resurgence that the team enjoyed under then new head coach Dick Sheridan. Kramer led NC State to an 8-3-1 record, a tremendous turnaround from the last year under Tom Reed's regime. That senior season of Kramer's culminated in the 1986 Peach Bowl, which the Wolfpack lost by a single point under controversial circumstances. Kramer went to the CFL initially, but also enjoyed a long career in the NFL. Kramer's life after professional football seemed serene and just as successful as his collegiate and professional careers. His ex-wife, Marshawn Kramer, speaks in stark terms for what football concussions have done to Kramer once he reached 45 plus years of age. She says, "He was an amazing man, a beautiful soul, but he has suffered depression since he was with the Bears. I can promise you he is not the same man I married." They wed in 1985 during Kramer's first season with NC State, and were high school sweethearts. They remained married until 2010. Another tragedy befell the Kramers when their son Griffen died in 2011 from a heroin overdose, for which four teens were charged with involuntary manslaughter.

Well, it was the only demonstrable violations that led to the wholesale evisceration of the NC State Men's basketball program and the termination of Jim Valvano. I don't recall any UNC types claiming that was all wrong. So, if it was good for others in their eyes, then it is good for them! Ken

https://gopack.com/news/2018/7/31/clint-chrysler-named-pitching-coach-for-baseball-program.aspx NC State has hired former Winthrop assistant coach Clint Chrysler to be their new pitching coach. Frankly, since the departure of Tom Holliday to Auburn, I have thought that NC State's pitching staff lacked the development needed to sustain the program at the levels seen with their previous CWS appearance. Chrysler is considered an elite pitching coach and so this hire is promising. Ken

The influence of Bradley Chubb and keeping the coaching staff that groomed him in place. This is why staff continuity is every bit as vital as producing elite players. It takes keeping both going together to convince the next generation of prospects that NC State is their best option. This is what Doeren has been able to do. Ken

Note about Battle. He was planning on committing in December but was concerned that we were filling up and would not have a place for him so he pulled the trigger. The coaches, knowing that he was waiting till December initially, told him to sleep on it an make sure. He did and still committed. That is all you need to know about this recruiting class AND coaching staff, a 4 Star major prospect called to make sure we had room for him.

Excellent interview! The ice tea incident was certainly a novel start! Head coaches can make really good money, but only after a long and winding trail with little stability and less security. Even if one defies the odds and makes it as a Division 1 head coach, the challenges are huge and the social media junk is terrible. The teacher who was serious about neglecting her duties because of football rivalry was truly sad. Ken
