First time I've seen Zion Williamson play and my impression is he's legitimately ready to start in the NBA right now, and he could start on any of the teams in that league right now. Every once in a while, a player comes along who's clearly the number one draft pick for the NBA. Williamson is that kind of player, and it's little wonder why so many teams in the association decided to trade away their best players to ensure they tanked for the season to maximize their odds of getting the number one pick. I believe ACC bylaws mandate a suspension whenever a player is arrested. However, an arrest is a low burden of proof and there are many people who are arrested who are acquitted, plus many more who see the charges dropped later. Ken

We have won 2 straight in the series including the last time in Cameron. This is probably the most talented Duke team we have faced in recent years mainly because of Zion. I believe we can compete with them if we hit our shots. Perimeter offense is the one Duke weakness as they are only at 31% from behind the ark. Duke does not scare me. Zion does. Zion is a PROBLEM in which we have no answers for. Got to hit a lot of shots.

NC State with seven Quadrant 1 & 2 wins. Only 29 teams in the country with more. State has only one loss to a team ranked worse than #16 in the NET. That is one heck of a resume we have put together thus far.

Take care of business and it wont matter anyway. We are capable of going 5-1. Its all conjecture at this point, I just think .500 or better in the ACC with 20+ wins and a win over a nationally ranked OOC opponent get you in.

Yeah, going 3-3 the rest of the way requires us to lose a game to either BC (play twice) or Wake or GaTech. After the Wake and VaTech debacles, we simply cant afford another WTF loss to one of those. We don't have enough quality wins to overcome that. That is, at best IMO, last 4 in, maybe playing a 1st round game. 4-2 is needed, 5-1 we're in easily. Winning at FSU would be a good win. Our OOC schedule was awful, despite the 4 P5 games. That will be held against us.

Keatts has announced this morning that Lockett has been suspended from the team. The victim has asked for charges to be dropped however she is still saying there was a physical altercation. I think Keatts hands are tied anytime there is an arrest much like he had to suspend Markell last season until he was cleared. Obviously all we can do is see how it plays out.

Harris was out with the Flu. Keatts, in regards to Harris and Lockett, said he would not comment any more on their situation other that what was in the press release. It was in the press release that Harris was out sick. This what pisses me off about the Media. In the same release about Lockett it said Harris was out sick, yet I have seen a few local media members try to blow it up about Harris when there is nothing there and not even mention the press release prior to the game.

I kinda agree with Matt on this. I would feel a lot better with at least a 10-8 record going into the ACC tournament. I realize we look better in the new matrix than the old RPI but the math is the same. Still the same number of automatic bids and at large teams and still a human committee who although will be using the new matrix will have human input that often leans towards the little darlings of the mid majors. Anything less than 4-2 the rest of the way would mean at least 1 bad loss, possibly at BC or Lord forbid home at Wake. If that happens I would not feel comfortable unless we are at least playing on semi-final Friday or better in the ACC tournament. Bottom line...Lets just take care of business!!

100% endorse every inch of this statement! Folks, I try hard not to be part of the conspiracy mob, or better put the Twitter mob. But, the truth is that college campuses today are replete with example after example of women lodging complaints and the system rushes to condemn the man and more often than not sadly, the full afterglow of facts show that the man ended up getting railroaded. This is especially true with regard to prominent athletes. All accusations deserve and need objective and complete investigation. I just repeat what Derreck well wrote, we just need to be patient and not rush to judgment. Thanks! Ken

Big Big win. That got us to 6-6 in conference. With Duke being the toughest opponent left of the 6 games remaining, my hope would be to go 4-2, 3-3 at the worst. That gets us to 22-9/21-10 overall and 10-8/9-9 in conference. We should be dancing at that point without worry.

We, we did win two important games yesterday so there is good news. I would encourage everyone to be patient with the Lockett situation. I am not saying he did or did not do anything, but State is going to check everything out before handing out its punishment. That is why State said he is not playing for personal reasons vs. saying he has been kicked off the team.

Braxton Beverly tied his career high scoring output at 21 points in tonight's home game against Syracuse, a team widely known as being very good at perimeter defense due to the height and speed of their guards. This game was almost a switch of the disastrous Virginia Tech game, which was the Pack's previous home game. This time, our defense stymied a good Syracuse team and forced them to shoot poorly, plus converted their rebounds and steals to points. I listened to the Wolfpack radio broadcast at work, and it was nice to hear. The announcers kept expecting to see Syracuse launch their effective full court press defense, which caused fits against Duke, Florida State, and Clemson. But, against the Pack, we broke it down the first three times they tried it, and the Cuse never tried it again. Beverly broke down the Syracuse zone defense and after that, Boeheim didn't seem to have any other answers for what we were doing. http://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/recap?gameId=401082797 Beverly was 4-8 from the three line and all of his shots were three attempts. He added 9-9 from the foul line! Overall, the team had a strong effort against a strong conference opponent. Ken

I have never understood why softball starts so much earlier than does baseball. These are not sports that play well during winter time. All that said, that schedule start is pretty incredible. In their first five games to play three ranked teams, two in the top ten, that's the kind of schedule that would bury most teams. Ken

The Lady Pack9 had a very difficult schedule to open up the season. First game was against #19 Michigan, which they dropped 3-4. We followed that up with wins against Ill St. and South Florida. Then the big win was the 4-1 shocker against #7 Arizona before dropping another close game 1-2 against #5 Florida. So the ladies are 3-2 on the young season but have looked impressive under the first year coach.

They also have some WTF losses including a 14 point loss to Ga Tech. Big key is we got to hit shots and attack the zone like we did in their barn last season.

Biggest thing to me this game is Markell's 8 assist. That is a very positive sign that Markell is getting back to being Markell not to mention the clutch 3 late in the 2nd. I love this team and their effort but the one guy who Keatts has limited because his lack of effort in practice (why he only played 23 minutes a game until ACC play) has got to go back to being the guy that carried the team during clutch time the past 2 seasons. If that happens we will win 6 out of 7 (maybe 7, we have had Dukes number the last 2 seasons including last time in Cameron and I am a glass half full kind of guy) and have great "mo" going into post season.

Man! This team doesn't believe in winning the easy way! A single made free throw would have iced it by putting the Pack up four with five seconds left to play, but after making several in a row, CJ Bryce missed and Pitt went down the center and threw up a desperation shot from the top of the key that bricked off the backboard as time expired. NC State needed to get back on the winning side and Pitt was a road game that was considered winnable, whatever that really means. What I see it meaning is that the teams left on the schedule are better at home than Pitt has been. Though, BC might be in about the same situation. However, a win is a win and an ACC road win is a very nice thing indeed! Pack wins it 79-76. Ken

An NCAA rule exception that allows a team to actually have more scholarship players in a given year's class than is normally allowed. The system leverages kids who graduate from high school (or transfer from junior college) to enroll and play during the fall semester, but are officially counted as being part of the next year's recruiting class. Essentially, it is a pay later for today arrangement. The way it is carried out is that the player agrees to play that fall semester as a walk on, and his scholarship does not kick in until the following spring semester, meaning the next calendar year. There are some restrictions on the player's recruiting process. He cannot have any official visits, nor can a letter of intent be offered or signed. That first fall semester of play is devoid of any contractual agreement between school and player. Ken
