Three turnovers destroy an otherwise good performance as the Pack drops their fourth game in a row, losing 34-20 at home to Louisville to drop to 4-6.

Good 2nd half. I got the ESPN app up and running with about 7 minutes to go in the 1st half. We were up big and proceeded to play like we had no idea what we were doing for the rest of the half. We're going to need to play all 40 minutes like we played the 2nd half when we play Memphis. 33 minutes of good ball isn't going to do it. 2 thoughts: -Daniels had a hell of a game. -Manny is going to be a major problem for opponents in about a year. He's good now, but his potential is limitless.

We won 87-64. Shot 38.5% from behind the arc. Daniels led the way with 23 points. The scary thing is Memphis whom we play next Thursday beat Alcorn State 102-56.

What I really like is that most of these guys are likely 2-3 year players. Hall might be a one and done, but that would be it IMO. Also, these 5 guys likely wont start next year, they will play a ton but wont start. My guess at next years starting 5, Allen, Beverly, Daniels, Hellems, & Funderburk

Yep, according to 247sports, this puts State's class 5th in the Nation and 3rd in the ACC (Duke is #2 overall and #1 in the ACC, UNC is #3 overall and #2 in the ACC). So the ACC has 3 of the top 5 classes in the Nation! https://247sports.com/Season/2020-Basketball/CompositeTeamRankings/ Note UVa is 7th in the Nation and 4th in the ACC. I know Keatt's staff is keeping an eye on the transfer portal so that was where my suggestion came from. Maybe that was simply a backup plan in case one of these guys did not commit.

I have to agree with this. The coaching staff should be measured by one fair measure -- how well they keep this collection of freshmen motivated to play their best. One can say a lot of things about the performance in the Louisville game, but the word "quit" sure as hell cannot be used. We've been overmatched but so far at least, that hasn't caused any loss of motivation to play hard. This season was going to be struggle when things started out. Throw in losing nearly your entire starting secondary and half your linebackers to season ending injury, along with your best receiver before the first quarter of the first game is over, and you have an idea what the staff has been dealing with. Folks, the first few games our defense played great, but our offense couldn't get going. The question was whether Devin Leary was ready to start in game one. Well, I initially thought that was an unanswered question. Leary's performance suggests to me that the question is answered. The staff went with the best option for game one and two, the best option for game three and four, and then the best option for the rest of the season. Of those three options, Leary is the one with the upside. Sometimes you have to take the suck. This year, we have to take the suck! Ken

WOW, I did not expect a post like this from you. I really dont know what to say other than, I think you are completely wrong. Yes, we underachieved with the team a bit last year. But is it the players or coaches job to execute on the field? As far as the onside kick. I dont have an issue with the call. We dont have the ability to score quickly right now. We need time to move the ball methodically and minimize mistakes. It also shows the defense you have confidence in them if we dont recover. Had we recovered he would have looked like a genius. Also as far as Brock Miller being on their receiver, you think maybe the defense was not lined up correctly? It that even a possible thought or have we gone down this coaching staff sucks narrative so much that we cannot even fathom that players made a mistake? Also, let me put this out there as apparently people dont realize this (or dont care at this point). The boys in blue down the road are pushing the narrative that our coaching staff is on the hot seat. They are hammering that since we have a new AD that "all AD's want their guy" and that any little slip up from DD will result him him being canned. So much so that they have hired people scouring the internet forums and social media printing off comments from State fans and showing them to players we are both recruiting saying "see, even State fans think he is gong to be fired." It is really creating an uphill battle in recruiting. We already have built in disadvantages in the State and as State fans, we are making it harder for our coaches to do their job.

-This staff has done a fantastic job of keeping this team together and fighting. And this year 7 BS has to stop. When you are down to walkons getting significant minutes due to depth issues from injuries and players practicing both offense and defense because of so many injuries, it is a snow ball of issues. Yes there are things you can point to for coaching. But that is every coach in every game. Heck you can watch a Bama game/ Clemson game/ LSU game, etc and question coaching moves throughout the game. Bill Belichick thinks highly of our coaching staff, so much so, we are one of the few schools he personally visits during the offseason. That alone tells me what I need to know. -Leary has an NFL skill set if he can put it together. Will he? Who knows, but that is up to him. We also have Ty Evans (Another Elite 11 QB currently red shirting) and Ben Finley coming in next year. I am sure the staff is doing the whole support their guy thing. But it is also hard to judge him when he cannot get in a groove with the offense because of the multiple changes due to injury.

My 2 main takaways: - As LSmith said, I am NOT impressed with coaching decisions. We do too much stupid shit. I'm about to get off the Doeren train. This is year 7 and the crap we're doing on the field is inexcusable, and it is NOT "they're young" mistakes. We're making "we're badly coached" mistakes. - If Leary is, as the TV commentators claimed, "The future of NCSU football", we are in deep, deep shit. For years. He is NOT. GOOD.

We beat a cupcake in the manner we should. Not happy about 3pt shooting for a team that went out and acquired players specifically for their 3pt shooting. We finally out rebounded someone! The Memphis game is the game we find out if we're contenders or pretenders. We better find a 3pt stroke with the quickness.

So glad UNC did not want Satterfield. He was in the running but the holes went with Mack Brown. Satterfield will kick our ass every year and so glad he will not be doing it with the holes and not saying Matt Brown will not because he is kicking our ass in recruiting. Satterfield was groomed by the best coach in college football history IMO by Jerry Moore. We were outcoached tonight. Yea we have had a lot of injuries this season. Yea we have lost a lot of talent to the NFL the past couple of seasons. With all the NFL talent the past couple of years and we let a team like Wake keep us from 10 wins last season?? Underacheived with NFL talent on both sides of the ball. Our coaching is dysfunctional right now. End of the 3rd quarter our offense finally responded and had a long drive to give our defense a rest and scored to cut Lvilles lead to 10. We responded with a bone headed coaching decision on a poorly executed on side kick to put our defense behind the 8 ball again. And then a damn kicker throws a TD pass on 4th down??? Look at about all of Louisville's TD passes. You have Brock Miller a inside LB covering their fastest receiver. Piss poor coaching not having your players in the right position. Really bad!!!

Can't have a game without a thread. Listened to most of it on the radio. Again we shot horribly at 18% from 3 and 49% from the field and still dropped 95 points. You got to hustle your ass off to score 95 points and shoot that bad. Starting to see some identity with this team and I like it. A lot of hard working moving parts and the shots will start falling.

Well, just way too many turnovers. Louisville capitalized just enough to win 34-20, in a game where frankly they didn't play all that well. We sadly pretty much gift wrapped this one for them to take home with them! The record stands now at 4-6, and it's going to be a difficult road to win the last two to barely eek out a bowl game. Ken

The week after mauling NC State 55-10, Clemson worked up the same number six on Wake Forest, beating them 52-3! Losing previously at Virginia Tech saw Wake tumble out of the national rankings, but Clemson is on a mission. Frankly, nothing seems to be making much of a difference for this Clemson team this season. They're deep, talented, and tested. Add in large quantities of motivation, and they have turned steamrolling opponents into a recent habit. All that's left on their regular season schedule is a road game at South Carolina, a team that pulled off a huge upset of Georgia, but then followed that up by losing three of their next four games, including last week against Appalachian State. Understand that Johnson is still not 100%, DJ has not even practiced with the starters since being suspended. This game was a combination of MJ not being healthy, players being out of sync due to not practicing together, and BB having an off night. And FIU will be an NCAA team and a team that none of the big boys want to see round one.

All three of State's bball commits signed their LOI's yesterday/ today. Hayes is the star of the class. A 6'2" PG he can be special in Keatts system, IMO. Dowunoa is a 6'10" Center who is a good rebounder and rim protector. Farrar is a 6'7" PF who will be a versatile player in Keatts system. Farrar IMO is the most underrated player in the class. He had offers from over 25 programs but somehow was only a 3 star prospect.

FIU is a high energy, full court press defensive oriented team. And for NC State, they played a very sloppy game, especially in the first half. The Pack won by nine points, 86-77, with the turning point coming with nine minutes left in the game, where Markell Johnson seemed to morph back into the Markell Johnson we remember, and took over the game. The sloppy play seemed to try the patience of Kevin Keatts, as a very poor decision by Pat Andree to attempt a full court outlet pass sailed far beyond anyone on the court and out of bounds under the opposite goal. Keatts quickly yanked Andree from the game. Then, a few minutes later, Braxton Beverly was leading a fast break and attempted a behind the back bounce pass that badly missed the mark and took two hops to Kevin Keatts' feet. Beverly likewise got yanked, and the look Keatts gave him could have bored a hole through titanium! Other big news in the game is that DJ Funderburk returned to action, coming off the bench. So, the Pack is finally at full strength. Funderburk tallied 11 points and seven rebounds. This helped the Wolfpack earn a 38 to 31 rebound advantage in the game. For the game, NC State had remarkably balanced scoring, with six players scoring in double figures, led by CJ Bryce with 16, most in the second half to also help key the Pack's victory margin. Ken

Eh. I remember when ASU came to town with Eddie House and Tennessee came with Allan Houston. 2 certifiable NBA-level players, and GOOD ones. We beat the heck out of both of them, with unremarkable teams. I'm more concerned about being outrebounded, again, by lesser team. And shooting sub-35% from 3 with guys we specifically recruited to shoot the 3. None of that gives me a peaceful easy feeling about the season. But, at least we aren't Kentucky.

Aside from that, the young bucks competed and seemed to settle down after the first quarter. There were break downs and such, but they got after it. Knight is special. 12 Carries for 139 yards and 1 TD. Despite the poor offensive performance, Knight was a bright spot. After Clemson was ranked 5th in the first playoff ranking, they were going to take it out against whoever the played. It just happened to be us. The Pack recovered to beat Detroit Mercy 84-65, and having Markell Johnson back in the lineup was a huge help. However, the player of the game was without question Braxton Beverly, who shot a career high 23 points, aided by 6-8 from the three line. https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/recap?gameId=401168613 While Johnson struggled shooting, he dished out ten assists and grabbed seven rebounds. The major influence he had was steady running of the offense and freeing up Beverly to do what he does best. The team just looked sharper in all facets of the game with Johnson back on the court. Ken

As the quote reads above the entrance to the Nellis AFB Red Flag briefing room: Red Flag is he Air Force's ultimate aerial combat war game, where we flew against captured enemy equipment, and trained in the most realistic manner to hone the edge. Clemson was a far better honed weapon Saturday night than was NC State. We are not a good football team, and honestly, my personal betting line right now is that we end the season with five wins only, eking out a road victory at Georgia Tech to end the winning side of this season's ledger. Well, it's game day, or actually game night. It's broadcast nationally on ABC at 19:30 eastern. Any thoughts that Clemson will lack motivation in this game is dispelled by the reality that the initial CFP poll relegated the undefeated Tigers to #5, just barely outside looking in at the big dance! On paper, there is no comparison between NC State and Clemson, not this year. The hope we had was to play out of our minds, and have Clemson look past a trap road game as it looks ahead to play it's second nationally ranked team at home (#19 Wake Forest). Had Clemson come into this game in the top four, that might have happened. But, they're angry now, and wanting little more than to send a loud message to the polling groups that they deserve to be in the mix. We have an opportunity to be that message. Ken

Their two space eaters made all the difference in this game. They just combined to block nearly every shot made from the paint. We beat their guards and small forward like rented mules all night, but it didn't matter because of the blocked shots and influenced shots. It was truly a game effort by a terribly depleted roster. But, ultimately, it still goes in the books as a conference loss to start the season. I hope that Funderburk learned a powerful lesson last night! His absence made a lot of difference to the final outcome. Ken
