A big weekend for this young team. Say what you want about not playing against ACC caliber comp but alot of positives to build on. #1 positive is staying mentally and physically tough enough after 3 games in 3 days to win this game tonight against an athletic SEC team.

Beating a Jeff Lebo coached team makes it even sweeter!

we won because of a dominating performance on the offensive glass...I still feel funny typing that...seems strange

A lot of positives tonight. Pack rallies from 6 down in the final two minutes to win by 2 when we could have easily rolled over and play dead. This team is scrappy and fights from start to finish. Like I keep saying, we may not win a ton of games but you will enjoy watching this team. You can see the effort and determination in this team. That is a refreshing change.

I'm going to turn on the speculation. Over the last two years, a lot of us (myself included) speculated that the biggest problem Sid had was a problem with chemistry on the team. Jay Bilas said it day one of JJ Hickson's season. But everyone said the problem was not Hickson -- that he was a team guy who brought it nearly every single night as a true freshman. His performance in the NBA validates that point of view.

Last season many of us said the issue was Herb's recruits. They just didn't hustle in every game, often moped around and sometimes just outright pulled a disappearing act on the court. It was said that perhaps things would get better when they departed. Well, they are gone and now we have a team where the following things are being said about them ...

Scrappy, determined, over-achieving, offensive rebounders ... and more!

What do all those terms really describe? They describe desire, heart, and a winning attitude.

Reminds me of two former Wolfpack players by the names of Sidney Lowe and Monte Towe. If heart made champions, these two guys as players were world beaters! Lowe and Towe were the leaders of those two national championship teams. Yes, clearly David Thompson was a leader, world beater, and best player in ACC history. No one had more class and more heart. But even DT would admit the team leader was the spunky little guy named Towe!

Regarding Sid, there's just one quote that really needs to be said. It came from his coach, Jim Valvano, who said of the man, "He's a coach on the floor!" Sid was the glue who kept the team together when Whitt suffered that foot injury. Sid was the guy who hit big shot after big shot to win so many close games for us. Sidney Lowe was the heart and soul of that immortal Cardiac Pack and that about says all that needs to be said!

So, this team seems to have already achieved one thing. They echo the attitude of the two main coaches.

Seems to me there's no accident suddenly we are positively surprised about our basketball team.

Let's get some more talent on this team (like a recruiting class for next season already firmly in the top 5) and I think we finally get to see what we've all been desiring for so long.

So long Herb! You and your legacy are finally gone!

Ken

I had this pegged as a loss. I like the attitude this year. Could be interesting.
