In the most shocking development in NCAA history, the 2020 basketball tournaments (men and women) are cancelled. In addition, the ACC has suspended all sports operations, including practices, games, and even recruiting events.

    Default ACC Standings: 5/07/12

    Atlantic
    Standings as of 4/02/12

    1. Florida State (11-1)
    2. NC State (8-4)
    t3. Clemson (5-7)
    t3. Wake Forest (5-7)
    5. Boston College (4-8)
    6. Maryland (3-9)

    Coastal
    1. North Carolina (9-3)
    2. Miami (8-4)
    t3. Georgia Tech (6-6)
    t3. Virginia (6-6)
    5. Duke (5-7)
    6. Virginia Tech (2-10)

We are now 1/3 of the way through the conference schedule. The Pack is a solid 2nd in the Atlantic and would be the 3rd or 4th seed in the ACCT if the season ended today.

    Here is a look at the remaining schedule;

    4/6-4/8 @ Maryland

    4/13-4/15 @ Clemson

    4/20-4/22 Boston College

    4/27-4/29 Duke

    5/11-5/13 @ Virginia Tech

    5/17-5/19 @ Florida State

To be frank, we should be able to roll through the remainder of the ACC schedule leading up to FSU. We have a real chance to host a regional this year.

If we can win all the series remaining up to the FSU tilt, then we should hold onto a top ten ranking and as long as we do well in the tournament, then hosting a regional is likely.

Baseball is inherently unpredictable, but we should consider it a realistic goal to sweep BC, Duke, and Virginia Tech.

FSU is a national steamroller. To win that series at Tallahassee would be a lot to ask for. One thing is clear, by the time this ACC season is over, there won't be any team in the nation any tougher than the teams we faced at the top of the ACC.

VT just took 2 of 3 from Miami. Even the weak sisters of the ACC are not so weak....

The thing I'd like for folks to note is that only the top 8 ACC teams advance to the ACC Tournament.

Ten of the ACC teams are in the RPI top 40.

The six teams left out right now would be Duke, Boston College, Wake Forest and Maryland. Maryland and Wake Forest are in the RPI Top 40! I'm still curious as to what their NCAA Tournament selection fate would be if they were skipped for the ACC Tournament?

Neither would be in the NCAA if the season would end today. OTHO, we would be the 3rd seed in the ACCT if the season would end today and likely in line to host a regional.

Ken has posted the updated ACC standings above. Also of note, the 9 game winning streak we are on is the longest since 2004.
