Believe it or not, baseball has reached just past the halfway mark of the regular season! The Pack stands at 23-5 (28 games total) and there are only 27 regular season games left on the schedule.

Yep, time flies when you're having fun, and the #6 ranked Wolfpack are most certainly having fun!

The ACC standings are divided much like football, except for the substitution of Notre Dame for Syracuse. It still amazes me that Syracuse being the very large public university of New York state still does not field a varsity men's baseball team, but they don't! You play all opponents in your division and half of the opponents in the other division.

NC State currently stands on top of the Atlantic Division. Duke is leading the Coastal. The Pack (9-3) and Devils are the only two ACC teams who have won all their conference series. Duke (7-3) has played two fewer conference games than has NC State. Of note, the team in second place in the Atlantic is Clemson, and they suffered a road sweep by the Pack. Clemson's conference mark stands at 8-4, and so they have only dropped one other ACC game than the three they lost to NC State.

It is also noteworthy that NC State still faces series against the other teams near the top of the conference standings, including:

Three game road series at Duke.
Four games versus UNC (first at Durham Athletic Stadium as a non-conference single game, the official conference series at home).
Three game home series versus Wake Forest.
Three game road series at Florida State to conclude the regular season.

The only three conference foes NC State does not face in the regular season are Miami, Virginia, and Pittsburgh.

The point being that while it's been a strong year so far, there is a lot of work left to be done!
