    Default Notre Dame

After a significant time away from home, the Wolfpack finally gets back to some home cooking!

Starting Friday, the Pack hosts Notre Dame for a three game series.

NC State drops game one 12-8, but this was a disappointing game, one that the Pack seemed have in control at the mid-point. But, poor pitching allowed Notre Dame to erupt for six critical runs in the top of the fourth, on two homers, the first a three run blast, to turn a 7-2 lead into an 8-7 deficit. The Pack tallied a solo run in their half of the fifth to tie the game again, but Notre Dame closed out the scoring with three more in the seventh and a final tally in the ninth. The Pack staff surrendered five homers to Notre Dame hitters.

Due to expected inclement weather Sunday, the decision was made last night to play a doubleheader today. Game two, and the first of the doubleheader, was dominated by the Pack 12-2.

It was a case of scoring early and often for NC State in game two, tallying a solo run in the first, followed by two more in the third, and then putting the game out of reach with eight scored in the fifth and sixth.

Unlike in game one, NC State got excellent pitching in game two, with Brian Brown earning a complete game victory, giving up just one earned run on eight hits, with eight strikeouts and just two walks! Given this is the first of a doubleheader, Brown's performance may end up being the most important contribution of the entire series.

Game three is scheduled to start tonight at 18:30.

Been an avid baseball fan for decades, and I cannot ever recall before seeing a team this resilient!

For the fourth straight week, the Wolfpack loses the first game of their series and storms back to win the next two, today being a sweep of the doubleheader versus Notre Dame. Game three was again won in convincing fashion, 13-5.

The Pack never trailed in game three, scoring three in the second to start things off, and then adding six more in the third to make it 9-1. Notre Dame whittled the margin down over the rest of the game, but the outcome was never in much doubt. NC State came into the series as the only ACC to avoid losing a conference series. In fact, by winning all of their single game match ups, the Pack hasn't dropped a series all year to any team!

The #2 team in the nation's record improves to 28-7 (13-5 ACC).

Game write up's will be posted later tonight.
