    Default Pitt at Notre Dame

Pittsburgh is at #6 Notre Dame and it trying to continue their streak of being giant killers! Midway in third quarter, they are leading the Irish 14-6, and just snuffed out a rare quality drive with an interception. They could have added to their lead, but missed a moderately long field goal attempt.

Last season, Pitt beat #2 Miami 24-14 at home finale, to earn only their fifth win of the season.

The season before, they shocked then #2 Clemson on the road.

Pitt has never been consistent in these three seasons, but they seem to be that team that can benefit from a highly ranked team looking past them. In 2017, Miami was enroute to an undefeated regular season and had clinched the Coastal Division and a matchup with Clemson for the conference title. That stumble at home was the first of three straight losses for the Hurricanes, costing Miami the chance at the national championship playoff bowl, then the conference, and even finally their Orange Bowl matchup against Wisconsin.

Clemson in 2016 was much the same story in that the Tigers were undefeated at the time. The difference is that this was their sole defeat on their way to winning the 2016 National Championship title. That was the year that Kyle Bambard shanked a chip shot field goal that should have earned NC State the road win over Clemson. Clemson survived that game in overtime just three weeks before their loss to Pitt.

Notre Dame said, "Not this time!"

Pitt missed two fourth quarter field goals, and that ended up making a huge difference as the final will be 19-14 Irish.
