The USTFCCCA will induct NC State Director of Track and Field and Head Cross Country coach Rollie Geiger into its hall of fame! For years I have been trying to urge NC State to induct Geiger into it's own hall of fame, but for some reason, this has not yet happened. Now, the school has no choice, because if they continue to decline doing this, then they are refusing to place a man who's career has earned him the highest hall of fame honor in his sport from similar recognition at his own school!

Geiger's accomplishments are legendary: 34 ACC Team Championships, 21 individual ACC titles since he became a coach in 1979. That's 34 conference titles in 40 years!

Geiger's women's cross country program is simply the most successful in collegiate history, 15 top ten finishes in the NCAA and two national titles in 1979 and 1980, including recruiting the immortal Joan Benoit who led the 1979 team on the field to cap her three year career.

In track and field, Geiger's teams earned four NCAA individual national titles. Currently, 246 of Geiger's athletes have earned All-American honors and 712 All-ACC honors. Geiger also coached the US National Team for the 1987 World Cross Country Championships.

Geiger should have been part of the inaugural NC State Hall of Fame. It is well past time that our school correct this glaring omission! The nation has already recognized what NC State has so far failed to do!
