I hope this emerging action gains a ton of traction and expands greatly. Students are starting to petition for at least partial refunds of their tuition, and I personally hope they sue the universities that refuse to offer any. This is a simple tort contract. The students pay for a level of service. The provider cannot just decide to decline those services and demand they be paid for anyway. Any other business in America would have already recognized the situation and issued refunds. Frankly, universities need a refresher course in common sense. They have operated far too long on the backs of previous generations, financing astounding endowments, combined with ever increasing federal and state financial outlays in the forms of student loans, scholarships, and grants. Universities have grown increasingly brazen in their refusal to abide by common business strategy.
